Ray McLain White Water & Competition Skills Camp Presented by the Wausau Area Canoe and Kayak Organization
Beginners Paddling Clinic Location / Facilities: YMCA Camp Sturtevent. Paddling instruction on the Eau Claire River. Target Audience: Beginning paddlers, no experience needed. Age 10+ Cost: $30 per person. Date: June 22, 23, 24, 2004 Description: Three evenings of beginning paddling instruction. No experience required. Instruction is geared for paddlers ages 10 or above. Parents may join in to make it a family outing. Younger paddlers will be enrolled on a case-by-case basis. All participants must be comfortable in the water. Curriculum: Introduction to equipment, basic strokes, white water techniques, and safety. Instructors/Equipment: Instruction will be provided by ACA certified instructors and top USA Canoe Kayak Junior Olympians assisting with the Ray McLain White Water & Competition Skills Camp. The Wausau Area Canoe and Kayak Organization and Ray McLain White Water & Competition Skills Camp participants will supply clinic equipment. Equipment will include boats, paddles, PFD’s and other equipment as necessary. Meals: Dinner will be provided with participants and coaches of the Ray McLain White Water & Competition Skills Camp on Tuesday after paddling. No lodging or other meals are provided during this instruction. Schedule:
